Atlanta, GA – December 17, 2025 – Heartbeats & Hands 540 (HH540), a nonprofit organization dedicated to uniting and inspiring individuals to be the change they want to see in the world, closed the fourth quarter with meaningful community impact through strategic volunteer support and educational resource distribution. Over the course of the quarter, HH540 contributed a total of 36.5 volunteer hours, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to hands-on service and community partnership.
Supporting Community Health Through Volunteer Service

During Q4, HH540 supported the Every Color Matters (ECM) Annual 5K Run/Walk Race, an event benefiting cancer patients, survivors, and their families. Eight HH540 volunteers assisted with race-day setup, cheer stations, and hydration stations—helping to create an energetic and encouraging environment for participants. Through this effort, HH540 contributed 28 volunteer hours, strengthening ECM’s ability to deliver a successful and impactful community event.
Advancing Financial Literacy Through Cole’s Initiative
In alignment with its mission to empower individuals and families, HH540 continued its Cole’s Initiative, a program focused on expanding access to financial literacy education. During the quarter, HH540 distributed 330 free copies of I Graduated… Now What? by Deborah Benard to five charitable organizations serving youth and families across metro Atlanta.
Books were distributed as follows:
Four Corners Group – 50 books
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® – Rho Zeta Omega Chapter – 30 books (Youth Leadership Institute Program)
Mission 1:27 – 60 books (Adventure Teen Program)
WayMark – 50 books (Xtreme Journey Camp)
Mary Hall Freedom Village – 140 books (Freedom Academy Program)

In support of this initiative, HH540 board members contributed 8.5 volunteer hours sorting, organizing, and delivering books to partner organizations—demonstrating hands-on leadership and stewardship of the program.
As part of the distribution efforts, Board Chair Nicole Hill and Board Treasurer Melyssa Austin-Hill toured Mary Hall Freedom Village, where they met with staff and engaged directly with women participating in the organization’s Freedom Academy program. The visit provided an opportunity to better understand the program’s impact and hear firsthand how access to financial education supports stability, independence, and long-term success.
