Atlanta, GA – The second quarter of 2025 was a season of growth and meaningful service for Heartbeats & Hands 540 (HH540), marked by new partnerships, community recognition, and volunteer-led impact. From receiving a community grant to sponsoring family-centered programs and supporting cancer awareness, HH540 continued advancing its mission of compassion and connection.
✨ Empowered by a Community Grant

In May, HH540 was awarded a mini-grant from the Junior League of Cobb County (JLCC). The grant provides essential funding to strengthen the organization’s cornerstone service projects and volunteer initiatives throughout the year. “We are incredibly grateful to the Junior League of Cobb County for believing in our mission,” said Nicole Hill, HH540 Board Chair. “Their support allows us to continue empowering volunteers and expanding our outreach to families in need.”
🍽️ Supporting Families at the Shepherd Center
In June, HH540 proudly partnered with the Shepherd Center to sponsor a Family Dinner, offering warmth and comfort to patients and their loved ones navigating recovery from spinal cord, brain injury, and stroke rehabilitation. A team of 11 HH540 volunteers served meals, shared encouragement, and created a supportive, caring environment—collectively contributing 33 hours of service to uplift families during their healing journey. “Sharing a meal reminds us of the power of community and connection,” said Hill. “It was an honor to stand beside these families and offer encouragement.”

🎗️ Serving at the Every Color Matters Annual Gala
Also this quarter, HH540 volunteers supported the Every Color Matters (ECM) Annual Gala, which raises awareness and funds for families affected by cancer. Nine volunteers dedicated a total of 36 service hours, assisting with event setup, guest services, and logistics to ensure a seamless and heartfelt evening celebrating survivorship, hope, and healing. “Partnering with ECM aligns perfectly with our mission to serve with heart,” said Hill. “We’re proud to be part of their work uplifting families through care and compassion.”
Together, these efforts reflect HH540’s continued dedication to making a tangible difference through service and partnership. Each project in Q2 reinforced the organization’s belief that when communities come together with purpose, healing and hope follow.
About Heartbeats & Hands 540:
Heartbeats & Hands 540 is a philanthropic volunteer organization dedicated to fostering meaningful connections between individuals and impactful volunteer opportunities at charitable and non-profit organizations across the state of Georgia. Established in 2022 by our founder, who, after experiencing a stillbirth in 2021, envisioned Heartbeats & Hands 540 as a vehicle for spreading joy amidst grief.
Our organization draws its name from the symbolism of the heartbeat, representing the unifying organ we all share that gives us life, and hands, symbolizing the spirit of helping hands reaching out to those in need. The number 540 holds a special significance, representing 540Hz—the frequency of joy. Heartbeats & Hands 540 is committed to making a positive impact on individuals and communities, guided by the belief that joy and support go hand in hand.
Through our volunteer initiatives and partnerships with charitable organizations, we aim to create a network of compassion and service, bringing comfort to those facing challenges and spreading joy where it is needed most. Join us in our mission to build a community of caring hearts and helping hands, uplifting one another, and making a lasting difference in the lives of those we serve.
