
Atlanta, GA | Tuesday, January 14, 2025 — As 2024 comes to a close, Heartbeats & Hands 540 (HH540) is proud to share the results of a year filled with impactful programs and
initiatives that embody its mission to promote positive citizenship, health and wellness advocacy, youth development, and empowerment for unhoused populations. With 325 volunteer hours and thousands of dollars invested into communities, HH540 continues to create meaningful change. Here is a look back at the highlights from each quarter of 2024:
Q1: A Strong Start to the Year
Atlanta Mission 5K: HH540 raised $365 as a team and had two participants contribute 5 volunteer hours.
Steps for Change Shoe Drive: HH540 collected 273 pairs of new and gently used shoes, resulting in 26 volunteer hours. Donations included:
84 pairs of new shoes donated to City of Refuge’s House of Cherith (in-kind value: $3,500).
95 pairs to Midtown Assistance Center.
94 pairs to Atlanta Mission.
Scholarship Award: A $500 scholarship was awarded to Kristina McBride, a Certified Lactation Consultant, to pursue Perinatal Mental Health Certification.
On The Beat Chats: Two discussions focused on health and wellness:
A conversation with birthing specialist, Kristina McBride and Founder and Board Chair, C. Nicole Hill (4 volunteer hours).
A discussion on endometriosis awareness with Dr. Soyini Hawkins and Board Treasurer, Tremaine Bagley (4 volunteer hours).
Easter Joy Celebration: HH540 organized activities for residents with memory-related conditions at Peachtree Creek Memory Care, involving 17 volunteers and 57 hours.
Q1 Total Volunteer Hours: 91.
Q2: Planning for Future Impact
Financial Literacy Initiative: HH540 partnered with author Deborah Benard to sponsor the publishing of her guide, "I Graduated, Now What?" (5 volunteer hours).
Q2 Total Volunteer Hours: 5.
Q3: Preparing Students for Success
School Supply Donation: HH540, in collaboration with the Georgia Pearls of Service Foundation and Peachtree Corners Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, donated $400 worth of supplies to Pinckneyville Middle School and Norcross High School (56 volunteer hours).
On The Beat Chat: HH540 Founder Nicole Hill interviewed Barney Jackson, founder of Every Color Matters, discussing their cancer advocacy and 5K fundraiser (4 volunteer hours).
Q3 Total Volunteer Hours: 60.
Q4: A Season of Giving
Every Color Matters 5K: HH540 provided 18 volunteers and donated $500 to support race day activities, aiding cancer patients and families (76 volunteer hours).
Warm & Fuzzy Drive: Partnering with local leaders and students, HH540 donated 100 handmade blankets to The Garden of Gethsemane Homeless Shelter. Sponsorship: $1,400 (85 volunteer hours)
Holiday Cheer:
Every Color Matters Home for the Holidays: Provided $488 in Christmas gifts for a local family impacted by cancer (4 volunteer hours).
Goshen New Beginnings: Donated $1,070 in gifts to foster youths aged 17–21 in Canton, GA (4 volunteer hours).
Financial Literacy Initiative Launch: Sponsored "I Graduated, Now What?" with a $4,050 investment to empower youths with financial knowledge. The guide will be distributed through The Coleman Initiative in 2025.
Q4 Total Volunteer Hours: 169.

Looking Ahead to 2025 HH540 is excited to launch The Coleman Initiative, a program aimed at informing and empowering youths through financial literacy. By partnering with foster care agencies and youth organizations, the initiative will provide essential resources to inspire financial wellbeing and success.
